How William Brown Went From Dubstep DJ To Selling His Trading Education Company

Before he sold courses, William Brown played dubstep in clubs. As the DJ Compa he signed to Mala's label Deep Medi Musik in 2012 and says he played in more than 40 countries.^1,3 Today he runs Build, Grow & Exit, which helps people turn what they know into courses, coaching programs and masterminds, and then sell those businesses.² His motto is short: "Make money, have fun, and help people."¹

Early life

Brown gave his birth year as 1990 in a 2025 podcast interview.⁵ He describes himself as being from the north of England, and music press called him a Manchester native.^4,7 He says he studied music at university while living in Manchester, and in his teens filmed and sold skateboard videos and made a graffiti magazine.^1,6

From Compa to trading

He says he discovered trading after a DJ set at Fabric in London. He put £500 into a broker account, grew it to about £6,000, then "lost almost all of it in a day" and bought a trading course.^6,7 Around 2018 a follower paid him to explain his trading, and that first sale became WBTrading, a trading-education company.^6,7

By his account the company made about £22,000 in its first year, £250,000 in its second after he started a YouTube channel, £1.1 million in its third once he turned on paid ads, and £2.7 million in its fourth.⁶ He moved to Dubai in May 2021, "to not pay tax and for the weather."⁶

The sale

Brown says a US private equity firm, High View, signed a letter of intent in April 2023 and bought WBTrading that September, for cash, with no earnout.^6,8 His site describes it as a sale "to a private equity firm, based in America, for a multi seven-figure sum."¹ He told the story on Built to Sell Radio, a podcast about selling businesses, in 2024.⁸ He also calls himself one of only three people "to ever exit an 'online course' business, alongside Sam Ovens and Alex Hormozi."¹³

Build, Grow & Exit

His YouTube channel took off at the start of 2024, and he says that growth "led me to found my new company Build, Grow and Exit."¹ The company sells a video course, group and one-to-one coaching, done-for-you work, and in-person sessions at his penthouse in Dubai Marina.² It also runs The Dubai Boardroom, a three-day mastermind limited to 45 seats, and since 2025 masterminds in Bali, where he bought a villa.^2,9,10,13 In March 2026 it launched an annual mentorship, announcing that "most education founders have built income, not a business."¹¹ He also wrote a book, How to: $10M: Sell Your Knowledge and Make Millions.¹²

His figures for the new business are his own. In December 2025 he said "right now we're doing about 600k a month."⁶ On AI he is blunt: "I think AI will never replace experienced human coaches and consultants that can take care of people."¹⁴ His Instagram account had 60,000 followers on October 24, 2026.¹⁵

Controversy

Brown is unusually blunt about money. He says he moved to Dubai in 2021 "to not pay tax and for the weather," and he calls himself one of only three people "to ever exit an 'online course' business, alongside Sam Ovens and Alex Hormozi."^6,13 Few founders in his field say it that plainly.

Associated with

He and agency coach Charlie Morgan are both British entrepreneurs who moved to Dubai. Brown's channel posted "Charlie Morgan's Testimonial For William Brown" in April 2023 and an interview with Morgan later that year.^16,17

Eric Kavelaars says Morgan introduced him to Brown in Dubai, and that Brown later invited him onto his yacht.¹⁸ Kavelaars named Brown among the entrepreneurs he networks with, and once offered him "500 bucks" to film a sales video in his apartment.^19,20

He and Liam Ottley were both building businesses from Dubai in 2023.^6,21

He and AI developer Eric Otten have both hosted business masterminds in Southeast Asia: Brown in Bali and Otten in Bangkok.^22,23 A guest on Otten's channel named "people like William Brown" as an example for business owners making content.²⁴
